penetration testing peoples networks WITH their consent is not illegal

and some software companies give cash rewards for finding bugs/weaknesses in their software

Looking for the same thing bro. Well Certain types of hacking are not illegal unlike what zizoux07 said. Before you learn ethical hacking, you should get yourself familiar with the Linux OS command line. And check out Eli the Computer Guy's Hacking. Peace
