Even though my GPU is working its perfectly fitted, my screen is black just black.

Hello everyone im new here but I ordered a GPU from ebay. Radeon HD 5450. I'm completely new to this so what I first did was put the GPU in the PCI slot and plug the monitor to my Motherboad. I think I had to plug it into the GPU. However I have tried everything, disabling my integrate intel chipset etc. Am I meant to download something for it? whenever I plug the monitor to the GPU it just goes black. The montor receives signal yet it is just black.

I have a Pentium Dual CoreE5300 and my Power Supply is:255 W max and 355 Peak. Could someone help me P.S my montior is an LED ? Thank you so much!

Read the manual and see if you need to use a particular output on the card, youll will want to install the graphics card drivers once you can see the display 🙂

Bro I ordered from Ebay it just came in a package, just the graphics card, nothing else

Ok, what make is it? Asus sapphire etc? You can google the cards manual if you can identify it, its possible you need to plug the card in to a molex as well, if you reply the brand name ill have a look for you 🙂

It has a vga output and a dvi one by the looks of it and doesnt need any extra powerfrom the psu so its a case of which output are you tryi g to use from the card?

Which output are you trying to use? Have you tried both? If neither work then its possible you have a dead card :-(

What do you mean by which output? Umm sorry im quite new 🙁 I inserted the GPU and I used the black part of it and plugged the other end of my monitor cable into it.. Thats all I did

If you look on the card where you are plugging it in, there are more than one place you can put the monitor lead, if the one you are using is not working, youll need an adaptor to fit it to the other output on the card and see if that is working

The thing is it doesn't even recognize it, on the computer I cant find one place that says Radeon 5450 grahpics card

If nobody you know has one then a local pc store should have them in stock, take a pic of your monitor lead and the outputs of the card and tell them you need an adaptor to fit, Id try getting someone you know to help if you could though 🙂
