I purchased a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO May 2018, but for the past several months my PC has been intermittently freezing, corresponding with an Event ID 153 error in Event Viewer. The errors appear several times per minute, and the freezing varies in duration, very rarely requiring a hard reboot. Each event has a message akin to "The IO operation at logical block address 0xfe743d0 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\00000031) was retried." The address differs each time, but the Binary Data is identical each time:

I also did a SMART check, and the SSD is in good health, but here's the report:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps some sort of glitch or corruption has occurred, but, if it's a glitch, you can (if your data is backed up safely elsewhere) delete your partition(s) and reinstall WIn10 within 10 minutes or so...(Naturally, reinstalling applications is a pain, which is why I keep a list of apps I have, and, even have their downloaded/ latest installers on a separate drive)

You can try another SATA data cable, and, use a different mainboard SATA port, this will eliminate most everything in one fell swoop....

Or, slap in a Crucial MX500 for $67, and retest...(If you got the 850 EVO only 14-15 months ago, perhaps it is under warranty, if it is actually bad)

Samsung 850/860 EVOs have been noted for reliability, but, any can device can fail or experience corruption...

I only have a primary/recovery partition, so should I just backup all my important apps/files and wipe the drive? Also, I got some new SATA III 6 Gbps cables due to CRC errors showing up in a SMART check (though the drive is otherwise healthy) but alas, the issues haven't disappeared.

What is the rest of your system spec?
Are you connected to a 3G or 6G port on your motherboard?
Have you tried a different SATA cable?
Have you ran a CHKDSK and an SFC /Scannow?

You may also want to consider this thread if you're having a RAID setup for example: https://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f16/windows-event-153-on-a-ssd-drive-1216969.html
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k@4.0Ghz
Mobo: AsRock Z77 Extreme 4
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB
RAM: 2 x 4 GB @ 1333 MHz (unknown manufacturer, got them secondhand forever ago)
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 750W

The SSD is connected to a SATA 3 6 Gbps port, and I've tried using a different cable. Ran CHKDSK and SFC/Scannow a week or so ago and some errors were discovered and repaired; however, the issue is still present. Not using a RAID setup, either.
