Event ID 1094 on clients

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.win2000.group_policy (More info?)

I'm getting an Event ID 1094 in the application
log, "Windows could not set the security on Group Policy
Events: (The operation completed successfully.)
Processing aborted."

Client is Windows XP, SP1, server is Win2K SP3. No errors
on server that seem to be related to this.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base or via
searches. Any suggestions?

I don't know offhand, but make sure that your dns configuration is correct in that
the domain controller points to itself and the domain clients only point to AD domain
controllers running dns with the domain zone - never an ISP dns server. There are
some helpful tools in the support/tools folder - run the setup that may help. Run
netdiag on an XP machine to see if there are any faulted tests/warning/errors,
especially pertaining to dns, dclist, and domain membership. Running netdiag and then
dcdiag on the domain controller is also a good idea when you are encountering
problems. Gpresult can help in telling when and where policy is being applied form.
