Hello.

I am wanting to hear peoples experiences, good AND bad, with wireless
networking.

I will need to know brands/models, as well as which version of wireless you
use(802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g).

How is connectivity, does it boot you offline frequently or not any more
than normal LDs?

Any info is appreciated

One of my extra computer is set for wireless network in my bedroom as
there's no netowrk hookup in the apartment and I don't want wires
running all over the floor.

The wireless access point and the wireless card installed in my PC are
both 54Mps Belkin brand 802.11g. I have tried Linksys branded WAP but
no matter what I tried it refused to work with EQ and Linksys help
service were about as wonderful as hiring a bull to watch the china
shop.

Provided you have the WAP properly configured and have the security of
some type like 64 bit WEP to prevent outside users from leeching your
internet connection, it should be fine. Never had a dropped
connection or LD's. Occasional freezes that requires reboots but it's
a vintage 733MHz celeron with 256MB RAM and can run EQ with minimum
eye candy.

It's the router that would cause the most problem as it may
inadverantly block certain ports EQ uses.

I don't pull wireless out of the air, but rather have a WAP in my
house connected to my cable modem.

I've used linksys hardware (initially "b" 4 years ago, upgraded to "g"
last year).

As a whole, it's fine.

Rarely I'll have problems with the card losing connection with the
WAP.

I have my mule box running 2 sessions while I'm not playing (one in
trader, one in buyer). It's a wireless connection.

I have an old DLink DI-614+ and a cheap noname cardbus 802.11b wireless
nic for my Toshiba laptop. I used to use the laptop to keep my bazaar
character on overnight, and had few problems. It was however generally
within 20 feet of the router in the same room. I also used to play in
the next room (through old style wooden walls/drywall, not a lot of
metal or concrete) and had no problems.

I use wireless for 4 machines in my house. Netgear exclusively, mostly
because I've had a couple of bad experiences with Linksys a few years
ago, and I've always had good luck with Netgear.

I've had zero problems with using wireless for any network application.
