Hey folks :). Sorry in advance for my bad English skills as it is not my first Language. And i'm no computer expert, so please be gentle. ^^

I have stalked around this page and others for the last few hours trying to find a fix for my problem. Since i could't find any answers that really worked for me im hoping to get that help With a post. So to the case: Around every Three Second my latency/ms/ping jumps up to around 1000ms, for what ever reason i don't know.
So first, my computer is a Lenovo IdeaPad Y50-70 15.6, and my router is an Asus RT-N18U.

My first thought was that this was a problem on all the computers in the house, that there had to be something wrong With the router or With the signals recived from the ISP, but no. After doing some tracing tests on my gf's computer it showed that she has a smooth Connection With no spikes in latency.

After that i tried to change my DNS-server to the one With the highest benchmarks. Found the numbers after downloading a program to search for DNS-servers nearby. That didnt work either. After some more Reading someone wrote it could be the radio signal of some kind (might not remember that correctly). Where i went into Properties on my network card and set the Wireless mode to either IEEE 802.11b or IEEE 802.11b/g instead of auto which was the default. This ended up not working aswell.

I later found a video on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWGX20Pn9Nw) stating that With using the commands "netsh winsock reset catalog" and "netsh int ip reset res" would fix the problem, to no use.

After that i read something about trying to start it in safe mode. But because of my inexperience With computers i didnt manage to do this With Wireless internet Connection. What i did find out was that when i booted my computer up in normal mode again i tried to do a ping Google.com -t test again and it showed me that for a good 40-50secs there was now spikes. This could be an indication that there actually is a program making these spikes. Afterwards i went to msconfig and did a boot without starting programs that was not related to Windows. Again, failure. Eventually I ended up doing a full scan With Windows defender, as it is my only antivirus program, it did not find anything.

I might have tried more stuff, but i can't remember it at the moment. What I have not tried yet is cable directly to the router or the modem, but i think it would be wierd if that would have help me since my gf pc Works perfectly on this Connection.

Edit: I have had this computer now for about 4months, installed Windows 10 a month ago, this problem started last week.

You need to run a tracert in command prompt and find out where the spikes are. If they are on the other side of your modem you will need to speak to your ISP. If they are on your side maybe we can narrow it down, find out what is the cause and then resolve the issue. But ye, first find out where the spike is happening.

Okey, I believe i had done that (https://imgur.com/TsnbJQ1). I can't really understand how i can seee the source of the problem from this test. Maybe you can help me with that :). Here is a second one (https://imgur.com/QDsfkEG) i did today if that helps.

How can you tell if there is a problem on my side of the modem or the ISP. Would be really wierd if it was on the ISP since, as i allready stated that all the computers in the house works just fine, except this one.

Anyway thanks for the help, need all i can get :).

Can't really see from that image. What we are looking for there is during the tracert for the ping to jump up between 2 hops so we can see where in the connection the ping spike is occurring. I Didn't realise you said it was only your laptop.

Try connecting via an ethernet cable and see if you still get the same spikes, if not we it is most likely an issue with your Wireless adapter and we can start looking at solutions.

Okey, so i did a test first With a usb-network adapter, and that work just fine. So i made the assumtion that the internal adapter in my computer had to be broken since it worked so well With another one. But after trying it With a cable Connected i don't now what to think, Because my Connection worked Perfect aswell With a cable.

Edit. What i also did try that i forgot to mention in my post was that i tried to Connect to the internet at my friends house, and i had the same ping spikes there.

If your connection worked perfect with a cable and a USB Dongle then it is almost certainly a problem with the WIFI Card installed on your laptop. The only real solutions are to try using different drivers. If you still get the same problem then it strongly suggests your card is broken and you need a new NIC.

Hi again, Sorry for such a late answer. I ended up buying myself a new usb-wifi adapter. And it works perfectly with that. Gonna look towards a more final fix later on, but i don't have much time for that at the moment. Again, thank you for taking your time answering my questions :)
