I purchased a gtx 1070 video card but that is all so far because I don’t know what mobo, cpu or ram to get. I was going to get the ryzen 7 2700x but I only play to games on my computer. FSX and DCS. DCS is apparently single thread and I’m not sure what FSX is but do I need that big of a processor? Do I need a top of the line motherboard? What ram do I choose? I have been searching for a week or so now watching YouTube videos and reviews all over the web. It’s pretty much just a daily PC and to use for DCS and FSX.

Solution
DCS and FSX are 11-13 years old at this point, so are not overly likely to benefit from the 8c/16t nature of a 2700X.

I would suspect something like an i5-8400 would be more than sufficient.

As with any build it will depend on how much you're willing to spend and what your expectations are. From what you mention I imagine FSX will be the most resource intensive. And... got beaten by Barty1884. At least the forum is showing a rather neat feature of someone having posted something while I'm still typing....

A bit of searching suggests that FSX is single core reliant, so Intel would be the way to go at the present time.
