Everything is completely black after resetting cmos and using my ram

I removed one of my ram sticks and then put it back in. They computer couldn't start with the ram stick in it just tried to restart fairly quickly. I read online to reset cmos by removing batteries so I did that. Now if I put the memory stick in the computer runs but nothing happens, the keyboard lights up but the screen is black. If i remove it I can use it fine except for the halved ram. I don't really know much about these kinds of things but I'm running windows 10.

Sounds like you're not inserting the module all the way in. Align the module with the slot and push from both ends equally(don't be afraid to use a little more force) until those 2 plastic retentions latch.
Before inserting the module clean your RAM slot properly.

I don't think this is it. If I switch to the other stick it also works and I've tried the different slots. if I have one in 1 or 2 its fine but as soon as one is in 3 and 4 it doesn't work.

Try only one module in every slot on the board and check if that works. If that works then there's a motherboard issue since it doesn't let you use your memory in dual channel.
