Hello,
it just happened recently..... clicking on a program takes minutes.
Then, after reboot, I click (example) my email client, it opens super fast, close, click again-it takes minutes to open. Excel folders the same.... take a long time to open. (If open at all) And often the desktop turns milky and a message on top (Not Responding). The same with Firefox, mostly opens fast, but then..... an other time (Not Responding) and everytime I click on a url.
And it takes a long time to get back to normal and open the app/folder/file.
Everything points to a virus malware I think, but :
What I did so far:
virus check several times Trend Micro-2016
run Spybot, remove all they found
run Malwarebyte, remove all they found
run chkdsk/f/r several times
removed all connected hdds -no difference
started to remove all programs I installed recently -no change

Because that goes on for days and rattling on my nerves.....
I bought an other ssd and I am in the process of installing a complete new OS.
Since there is no problem with the fresh Win 7 (with all the drivers installed and partly programs as well) there could not be a hardware/memory problem.
Everybody who installed a new sys once, knows how much work is involved in bringing all the data I collected over the years over to a brand new sys.

So, I would be glad to have my old sys working the same way it was before.

My sys:
AMD 8 core 3.5 GHz
16 GB Memory
Graphic Card GEFORCE GT 740
C Drive Plextor 128 GB

any suggestion appreciated

Thank you

Solution
I'd look at the cryptic system event error log. Control Panel -> Computer Management -> Event viewer. Look for entries flagged ERROR in red.

Good luck.
Hi wpgwpg,
My gues is that only a software conflict could cause the problems.
Even Event Viewer hang up before.
Now I keep on watching Event Viewer every time I boot and it hang. So I have found a few driver problems. Then I uninstalled the software in question..... it is much better now, few delays (Excel took 1.5 min to open before, now a few seconds)-I hope, it stays that way.
Only my email client often takes long time to open now.
That program I have on an other disk.
I will keep on trying and observing. If I find more problems, I may get back to you?

Thank you for your suggestion.

I think what I see is that you have installed several free programs: spybot, malware bytes, along with microtrend...
and you have created system conflicts...
You should only run 1 security program, not several at the same time, because they conflict w/ each other.
(use only 1 all in 1 security program, not free security from the internet...)
Delete any / all "free" programs installed from the internet.

Second, there is an indication of a bad internet connection (might be corroded wires etc...)
Try a "speed check" test (but don't install any "free" programs). And you may see that the internet speed is defective / intermittently defective (speed comes and goes, off and on). This happens when wiring or cable TV connections are rusted and corroded...
