Hi, so I recently built a computer, about a week ago. Everything was running smoothly until today. I went to boot the computer, and startup repair launched. After it was finished, it did not work. I have tried booting from safe mode and booting from last known good config, but neither of them worked. They both launched me back in to startup repair. Forget to mention, this is Windows 7 I am running. I am so frustrated, so any sort of help is greatly appreciated. I still have my installation disk if that will assist in any way. Thanks

Your Welcome liamhart :) Glad you have it sorted.
Use your OS system media disk or USB to boot from. You will need to set Bios boot priority to the DVD or USB drive. I think pressing the F8 key during post will give you boot options also.
Here you will be offered the option to "repair your computer" and other recovery tool options.

If all else fails then do a clean install. As you only have one weeks worth since installation, just backup any important files you may have, If you can.

Thanks, but I have tried nearly all the options in the F8 window. However, the one I have not tried is the command prompt. Would that assist me in any way? Also, let me add I attempted to install windows 10 right before i began having this problem. Just throwing that out there in case that could have something to do with the problem. Thanks

There are two commands at the DOS prompt you can try.
One is "sfc /scannow" without the quotation marks in an elevated command prompt. This would verify OS files. It will try to fix any corruption.
The other is "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" which will check the windows store files.
If the DISM command changed anything, restart your computer afterwards. You can now run the SFC command again and it would be able to replace any corrupted files with the correct ones.

What happened when you tried to install W10 and how did you attempt the install.?

If you have an installation disk then your ready to rock and roll.
Boot to the installation disk and choose to repair your system. If no go then do a clean install.

Updating W10 thru the internet has issues for many. If unsuccessful then get the media creation tool from MS and burn the ISO to DVD or put it on your USB stick.

Get the Media Creation Tool here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

Generally yes however, not all MBs will offer to boot from the installation Media using this method. If not then you will have to set boot priority in Bios. Press the F8 key off and on during the post cycle.
Try it as it should work.

Sorry for the delay. So I've been trying to boot using the disk, and every time I attempt it, it just takes me in to startup repair again and there are no options to restore or repair my computer or whatever. Therefore, I am just going to do a clean install as I don't have much on my computer I need anyway. Now, how do I complete a clean install considering I cannot log into my account on my computer? Im a little bit stumped, any help is appreciated, thanks.

OK, but anything I do, my system goes to startup repair. The disk just does not seem to be working. I just want to do a clean install using the Windows 7 disk, so any ideas on how I could go on doing about that?

Alright so one of the times I reset my comp and then put the disk in, the computer finally went to a clean install. So, now everything is back up and running again. Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it
