evga 1060 fan will NOT go fast enough

Unless I use a custom fan curve in Afterburner my evga 1060 3gb will not go past 40% at 80-84c. Thing is, when playing Destiny 2 with my wife, Afterburner overlay can't work. Now, it runs in the background but apparently the fan curve won't work either while playing it. Last night HWmonitor showed max of 84c.

Any other way to set evga fan curve? Not sure precision x will work with Destiny 2 either. This is actually a pc for my wife, mine is an evga 1060 6gb SC and it's fine, 70% fan speed at 70c and what not. Why are they different? I don't have a custom one.

Yah I hadn't played for a while either, my wife loves it though, I just got her into pc gaming, built her pc. It's easy for her to play so we have fun together. When I let her pick what we play it's always that game. I'll try out precision x this time and see what happens. Thanks

The fan curve is synced to the temperature that the card detects itself as being at.

MSI Afterburner/other overclocking tools can override this with their own fan curves, but my default the gpu fans should be spinning full blast at 80°C

If the card is at 80°C and the fans are not going full blast the only 3 possibilities are terribly messed up drivers, defective card/gpu fan or conflicting settings from another gpu overclock/fan setting tool.

If you set the fan curve to be at 100% at 20°C it still only does 40% fan speed?

This should be apparent even with no game running.

Odd, nearly every EVGA card I've ever owned will usually hit 100% fan speed by around 80C with the stock fan profile. If MSI or Precision doesn't work the next ppl to contact is EVGA as there may be a issue with the card that software can't fix.

I'll probably contact them. It worked on afterburner the other day, for some reason it didn't work when we played Destiny, though. But yah, my 1060 6gb hits high fan speeds but hers just stays at 40ish percent. Doesn't make sense, all drivers up to date like mine, etc. It's always something with PC parts, one problem fixed, two more appear lol.

Did you just get the card? It might be worth checking which bios it is running. The first run of evga 10 series cards had really low fan speeds. When people panicked about vrm temps they released a new bios with a more aggressive fan curve. My old 1080 sc would run at 80c and 40ish percent fan speed.

I got it in October. How do you check and update the bios? It's crazy, my 1060 6gb ramps up right after launching a game like a jet engine and meanwhile my wife's 1060 just hangs low. I don't get it. In HWmonitor it showed like 900rpm or something as max speed. Mine is like double that. I think it said Min/Max/Average speed was 40% for her so it seems it's not even going up AT ALL?
