EVGA 780i SLI FF Error Code

So a friend of mine gave me a "dead" 775 motherboard and computer. So I plugged it in, turned it on and instantaneously got an FF message on the error code indicator. I have changed the power supply, ram, reseated the CPU and changed the GPU. Is there anything else I can do? I've heard that the case might be shorting the motherboard.
