Hi, I just ordered a EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked 4GB and was wondering how this compares to a MSI GTX 970
Gaming 4G

I know 980 is better than a 970. I am just worried about the 980's reference cooler. The 970 has better cooling, but the 980 has better performance.

Will the 980 be loud and hot compared to the 970?
And which will have an overall better performance?

The reference will be fine as long as you can keep some airflow through your case and you are not overclocking it. The performance will be better than a overclocked 970 running hot at the same temp as the 970 also only has 3.5GB of fast RAM and the other .5GB is fairly slow (compared). The 980 has a full 4GB. :)

Thank you for replying.
So the cooler won't give me any problems? I don't want it to run hot.

Do you know of a chart that shows the differences in cooling between the reference cooler and the MSI, STRIX, or any other non-reference coolers?
