evga g2 850w psu help

i have a g2 supernova and my question was that i had a cable that was like a 6 pin and connected to my psu but on the other end it had a 6 pin with a 6+2 pin and i was wondering if i could just use both on my 970 with one wire or if i had to use 2 wires and leave the extra 2 pin out

The GTX 970 need to be connected by 2 6 pin connectors if I'm not mistaking. You should have 1 6 pin coming out of your PSU with 2 6 pin going into your GPU. Some cables do come with 1 6 pin and 1 6+2 pin but you can use both as a 6 pin no problem there. I have my GPu the same way. the 2 pins are not used if you dont need them.
