EVGA G3 is so loud!

Hi

I have a 850w EVGA G3 and the second i start gaming it is stupidly loud. The rest of my components are quiet.

Can i change the fan or is i wanted a quieter PSU would i have to go for the Be quiet pro 11 but its so expensive.

Corsiar 4x8GB LPX DDR4 RAM (2666mhz or something)
EVGA 850W G3 Gold rated
MSI GTX 1080 8GB
Samsung EVO 850 250gb

I play demanding games such as Dying Light, Red Orchestra & Battlefield 1 amongst other things.

I have looked online and whenver the 12v rail is being used the fans go to 1500rpm which is not nice, my MSI GTX 1080 can go above that speed and makes half the noise the PSU can make. I got the PSU recently

what case do you have? is the psu in the bottom of the case? taking cold air from the outside of the pc?

No actually i have been asking around and the power draw at load for the CPU and GPU goes to about 700W. My old 550w wont run with the built as it doesn't have enough wattage, i press the power button and nothing happens with the 550w (The 550w PSU does work as my brother has it currently). Scan Ltd was the company that told me i needed the 850w due to the power draw.

Also my CPU isnt overclocked.

If the PSU not of ISO mode the fans are quiet to start then when i game they go max.

the 1080 is around 300 watts more or less, the cpu is around 100 watts, to round things 500 watts i think it should eat

you say 700, if that is correct, is close to the limit of the psu, but fans spinning fast and making noise has no sense under that load

perhaps the unit is defective and is making the noise you report?

does the psu gets hot or the air coming out of it is hot?

Maybe the ISO switch (if that is the correct name for the switch) performs differently than if you kept the switch to fan on always.

Try to turn "eco mode" off. Someone who has the same PSU as yours said to me: "Eco mode: when your PC is under load the fan starts to spin once in a while and when it does it's not the quietest. The noise level is noticeable mainly because it goes from absolute silence to something that you can actually hear. Normal mode: it's like the fan is set to a constant speed, super quiet."

I guess EVGA is not as good with their "zero fan spin mode" as is corsair or Seasonic. I had a XFX PSU (inside its a seasonic gold desing) and their ecomode was really quiet, from "zero" to initial spinnig, it was quiet. Not the case with evga.

i have the same exact psu. with a 17 7700k and a 1080ti both overclocked and i pull around 350-5xx watts under gaming load. and the fans are very loud and dont calm down after gaming they stay spun up for quite some time my system idles at 100 or watts but it seems this psus fan curve is way over zealous as 20+mins after gaming i shouldn't still have my psu fan spinning quite fast. my gusse is with his more power hungry system eco mode would pretty much turn off all the time as my lower tdp system pretty much never goes into 0 fan even at idle... i am going to see what evga says but they will probably just want to send me another one x.x wish i would have bought a diffrent psu as the reviews of this thing being quite must have been on low tdp systems... as all the diffrent psu's from 650-1000watt have the same fan curve as they make it more agressive so they pretty much all spin up at the same wattage......

Eco is off.on mines It almost seems like it has a faulty fan speed control as it gets stuck ramped up for a long time and a full shut down and reboot fixes it.

Well i use headphone mostly. Hardly use pc at the moment as i work fulltime and then help at events in the weekend.

Computers are loud at load, My GPU, PSU and back fan are the noisy elements on my pc, while on the desktop everything is quiet as i have set the fans that way.

The ramped up speed only happened to me if i left it of ECO mode while gaming, in so the PSU heated up, then it had to compensate so fans went loud. Now as the fan is always on it hardly needs to speed up, its hardly what i call loud.
May be fault but may not be, it depends what you hear as to loud.
