I decided to replace my EVGA GT 710 with the 1060, but it's not getting picked up by the system. I used DDU to remove old drivers and installed the new card. There is no bios screen/post/windows activity at all. The monitor is just on with a blank screen. And I don't have any way to test the GPU in another pc currently. All the other boxes I have are too small for it.
The system specs are here, with these specific options:
460w PSU
16GB ram
Core i7-4770 (Haswell) (84W) 3.4 GHz
1 TB, 7200 rpm, SATA 6G
I have disabled secure boot as recommended here by HP with same results: HP Desktop PCs - Computer Does not Start After Installing a Video Card
Also disabled fast boot with no luck. Multiple HDMI and DVI cables have been used so it's not one of those.
I updated the BIOS to the latest available on HP's website (October 2015): ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73001-73500/sp73062.html, but also noticed another BIOS was available for a similar machine, but not listed as a specific update for my PC when searching by the model number. I'm kind of curious if I should try updating to that one as it is for the same ROM Family (2AF7) as the motherboard in my PC and is almost a year newer (July 2016): https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-700-400-desktop-pc-series/7161708/model/7276705/swItemId/cp-172013-1
So not sure if it's a BIOS issue not recognizing the card, a weak power supply, or a bad card. And trying to find somewhere to test the card at to rule that out for sure, but in the mean time trying to rule out other issues.
The last thing I tried for the night was resetting the CMOS by removing the battery and that actually got some RGB pixels to show up on the screen.
