I'm upgrading my computer and I came across two cards with almost identical specs but one is ridiculously priced more. Can some explain to me if the price is validated or completely not worth it.

The top one is a staggering $240 more.

The cheaper one has better clock speeds but the more expensive one has more cores. Plus the expensive one has more memory. But I'm not sure if these are worth the price difference. Any advice?

P.S. I'm going to be gaming 90% of the time and that's the only thing that will involve intense graphics.

Solution
Clock speed is only part of the equation that determines graphics power. Like quad core cpus, gpus do things in parallel - the more units in parallel the better the performance - GTX680 has WAY MORE parallel power than a GTX660 hence the price difference.

Thank you for explaining why the price difference was so much! I'll make sure to keep this into consideration for future upgrades!

The 660 is quite weaker, but far better price/performance wise. If you want strength on a budget, the 7870 LE is the way to go. Otherwise a 7970 or 7970 GHz are the strongest cards on the market.
