Hello,

Just curious if anyone has any information as to why this particular card is still selling for $350 used and higher if new on Amazon? The 1070 goes for $380 new, the 1080 for $560. I have the 980 and it has been amazing, I find it odd the price point hasn't changed much, even with the introduction of the 10 series. Any ideas?

don't know if your interested in a factory referb from evga ?? 980 ftw $299 ?

over a used its got the evga1 year warrantee to fall back on if needed

thing is NVidia don't drop prices on there older cards that just hurts sales of there newer cards like me I preferred a 980ti over there new 10 series cause the 900 series still supports ALL my needs the 10 series does not [and they know it ] $$$

look how much a new 700 series cost today ?? if you can find one

good luck

Nvidia doesn't set the prices, retailers do. And Amazon is a giant store front.

GTX980 should have a value around $250, but considering it was a $550 card a year ago some won't want to drop the price. They are hoping uninformed people pick them up to lessen their losses.

like uninformed that a 10 series has less support ? or donr have analog native on the cards ?? I see that a lot here at toms like said why I choose a 900 series over a 10 series

it supports all my needs not 1/2 of them .why would I drop the price on something like that ???

Less support? Not sure I take your meaning.

If you still need a VGA output these days, well not sure what to say to that. Are you a CRT gamer? I think I've been using DVI since around 2005, now DP and HDMI as it suits.

Not really about your needs here, just the pricing of old computer hardware. You can pick up a GTX1060 and get nearly the same performance as a GTX980, more memory, and a few minor architecture improvements. GTX980 are difficult to sell in that regard, I have two of them sitting on my desk, and they'll probably go the same way as my 580s.

But as you said, GTX770 and 780 are still out there new for quite high prices. Sellers just leave them up there until someone comes along and buys them, even if there is an alternative. Doesn't cost them anything to have the listings if they are keeping the rest of their stock up to date.
