bit peculiar the 980ti isnt even on the shelf yet just pre order

but in the uk its already causing big price drops on the gtx980

would have expected the same thing to happen in the usa

if you can afford it the 980ti is the card to get from those 2

just wondering though if AMD will have a card to reply to the 980ti some time soon

The 980Ti was only announced yesterday. It might not even be available in stores yet. Look around to see if they have it yet. I checked Newegg, and they show 3 models of 980ti cards, but all 3 say Coming Soon.

The price on the 980 was cut by $50 yesterday, due to the 980Ti being announced and priced at $650. It may take a few days for all the companies to update their pricing.

Of the two cards, the 980Ti is faster. The 980Ti is just 3% slower than the Titan X which costs $1000.

already seeing gtx980 under £400 and the 980ti isnt even available yet

though the gtx970 hasnt dropped

if you have the budget the 980ti over the titan is a no brainer unless you do serious stuff like 3d etc

and if you want a gtx980 then expect some more price cuts soon on those

pretty good situation really --except for those who just forked out for a titan

I would strongly recommend to wait for the GTX 980Ti to be rated properly by Bench marking web sites and enthusiasts. Then we will get a real picture of how good it is compared to GTX980 or even earlier GTX970. Then after assessing the Price to performance ratio, go for it if it is good enough.

benchmarks and reviews are already out theres one on the front page of this site

and those are only reference cards--its place against the 980 and titan is pretty clear already

just as mentioned can AMD compete against it

I agree that the 980ti benchmarks that are available from this site and many others already give you a very good idea of how the 980Ti performs. That is not going to change from what all these sites posted yesterday.

Since the Titan X and the 980Ti share the same GPU, but the 980Ti only has 22 of the 24 SMU's, its still going to be a massive performer. And as Tom's review said, in the end, the 980Ti performs 3% slower overall than the Titan X. And costs $350 less.

Now the elephant in the closet question remains. Will the AMD Radeon Fury be able to beat the 980Ti? Will it be able to beat the Titan X? I think anything less than that would be a major blow for AMD. So we need to wait for the benchmarks on that card to come out later this month.

no problem

that was just the OP querying why there was no price difference between the evga 980 and 980ti

think its just evga being slow as in the uk the 980 has already shown big price drops so theres over £100 or so difference from a 980 and 980ti depending which manufacturers card you pick

i agree its worth waiting for the AMD fury and fury x

cant believe they named it fury x too similar to titan x

if those 2 cards dont at least beat the 980ti then AMD is in trouble as the rest of their new line up looks like a revamp of series 2 cards from what i have been seeing in the rumour mill

I do not believe that rumor. AMD is not trying to be a copycat. I would be shocked if they called it the Fury X.

The main reason that I do not believe it will be the Fury X is that the Fury name was used by ATI long before AMD bought the company, and then it was dropped after the Fury cards turned out to have some ugly performance issues. So AMD is going back to try and use a brand that ATI has used in the past, and I think this being AMD's first flagship card, a simple Radeon Fury will get the name out there well enough. No need for an X to differentiate it from any other Fury at this point.

I also do not think the R9 will be in the name. I think it will be simply the AMD Radeon Fury.

Now we get to wait and see if I am nuts or not... LOL

yep its still all rumours

but now the 980ti is out and the specs/performance of the reference card at least are known

if AMD has a 980ti or titan killer it would be the ideal time to make some noise about it

personally i will buy AMD or nvidia cards whichever has the best product

i just hope AMD can not just match the 980ti but beat it by a reasonable margin and not heat up half your house doing it

I have owned a whole bunch of video cards over the last 3 decades, many from ATI, AMD, and Nvidia. Last year, Nvidia won out. What will it be next year?

I love competition. When two or more companies can compete fairly, everyone wins.

Are you listening Nvidia?

980 Classified has been dropping in price consistently for the past two months. On Newegg it's about 540 after a $40 or $50 rebate. If you're an overclocker you have a difficult decision to make, because after going classified, its hard to go back to sc.

If you want the classified and are on a budget, get the 980 classified, for the money you're paying now its more than worth it. The 980 Ti classified will take a little while, and if you watercool (as you should if youre getting a classified) the blocks might take a little while... Plus the Ti classified will be about 100-150 more than the SC.

On the other hand if you want to spend about 700, get the Ti, cuz on newegg itll be about that after shipping... 540 for what was not long ago, the fastest card on the planet, vs 160 more for what is now the second fastest (next to titan x)...980 classy will continue to drop and you can get another one later this year.

can someone explain to me what the difference between a base 980 ti and a 980 ti sc is? I understand that theirs about 100 mhz difference, but thats it right? No different aftermarket cooling solution, no newer fans. It's literally the same card except it's factory overclocked by 100 mhz right, and costs about 100 dollars more.
