My EVGA GTX 1080 SC has starting causing restarts by just playing games, I stress tested every other component and they were stable, and then I ran furmark and bingo it started restarting eveytime I ran the torture test, I even swapped out the 1080 and put my 970 in and it was stable through stress tests and games. Is there a fix for this problem or should I just RMA it to EVGA?

Solution
sometime you can't just look at the total wattage, you would want to look at the 12v current rating as well.
aftermarket card has a modified power profile that allows for higher powerdraw, when you start torture test, GPU boost will start the card with the highest frequency possible then backdown if there is any power or thermal limit. the initial current draw is quiet high, that might upset your psu.
