EVGA GTX 1080 Founders Edition memory clock

Hello I have recently purchased an EVGA gtx 1080 founders edition. I have noticed that in the EVGA precision software that the Memory clock spikes from 400 to 5000 while using the desktop. What causes this?

When does it spike? It does that when you game or do intensive tasks. It might be triggered by watching a video.
