Alright so I've been running this build for a while now and love it. Recently I upgraded from a 25" 1920x1080p, 144hz monitor and bought a 27" 2560x1440p, 144hz monitor and am now seeing frames around 80-100, with the occasional 120 fps. I figured id take a small hit but uncapped on the 1080 monitor I would hit 200-300 fps in Warzone. I play somewhat competitive and we do some small tournaments BUT I do like the look of the game. Any help on my options? I'm going to try to set everything to low but I'd almost rather return and buy a 27" 1080p at 165hz or even 240hz. G-sync was on, my second monitor was set to 60hz (i now switched it back up to 144hz, not sure if that matters), g-sync on. I almost went right back and returned it for a 1080p but wanted to ask you lovely folk. Any input helps.

1440p 16:9 is @ 1.7x as many pixels as 1080p 16:9.
1440p 21:9 is closer to 2.5x as many pixels as 1080p 16:9.

Thats quite a performance hit, so it's going to be closer to half or better fps hit, not
I figured id take a small hit

With the increased sharpness and clarity, you can usually lower some in-game specific settings, especially for things like grass detail and lighting affects, clouds etc and never see the difference, but the cpu will.
100fps @ 16:9 1440p isn't bad. that's quite a bit more pixels compared to 1080p, so quite a drop like that could be expected. i would test between a couple more games and a few benchmarks before really forming an opinion. some games just don't function well at higher resolutions; maybe having some in-engine upscaling going on or who knows.

my average @ 16:9 1440p with mostly ultra settings in games was ~100fps. moving up to 21:9 ultra-wide 1440p the average with the same settings is around 70fps. not quite the same % of drop, but it can depend on many things.

Appreciate the replies. I will try so more tests with different games and settings. If I can get 100-120 fps consistently I will stick with it. If not I might be tempted to buy the same monitor but the 1080p 240hz version, mainly due to gaming and competing in some tournaments. Upgrading my gpu is out of the budget right now, BUT within the next year or two I plan on building another pc and the 1440p might be worth it to grind out.
