Hello,

Would an XFX Core Edition 550W 80+ Bronze PSU be able to supply a EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB SC ACX with enough power?

I know the GTX 780 has a TDP of 250W, but since this is an overclocked version I thought I'd ask you just to make sure.

My current system: Intel i5-2500, Intel DH67CL, 8GB 1333 RAM, GTX 560 ti top, Intel SSD and one mechanical hard-drive. And of course the XFX Core 550W PSU.

You'll be absolutely fine. People always go overkill with their PSUs because they're afraid of seeing black smoke. There really shouldn't be a market for 1200w Gold+ PSUs, but there is. With a certified 550w you'll be fine.

The max usage of the 780 SC is 280w. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_780_SC_ACX_Cooler/24.html
Max usage of the rest of the system would be about 150w when stress testing. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i5-2500-2400-2300_10.html

So that's 430w when you're stress testing. Maybe 350w during heavy gaming. I say you're fine.
Yeah I suspected I would be very close to the limit. I do not plan on overclocking the card, or anything else for that matter. I'll just leave it at the factory OC.

well i figured my overclocked PhII x4 965be and HD 7770, plus all the fans and the RAID 0 setup would tax my 400W psu... i was wrong. that thing doesn't break a sweat, the fan doesn't even run hard on it. Granted a phii and 7770 isn't an i5 and 780... but then a 400w psu isn't a 550w one either.

It looks to me like your system will pull around 350W-425W under full load, and your psu should be good for 440W min... not a lot of space there... but it should be enough.

Everything seems alright then! Like I said earlier I don't plan on overclocking anything, I might add another mechanical harddrive in the future.

I don't think my PC will be working under full load either, I'm just going to play games.

I have the same current system as you Jointe: i5-2500k. GTX560 550W etc.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if my power supply is a decent or at least an acceptable brand to run the 780 sc on.
I have LC Power LC6550 v1.3

Also would I need to consider over clocking my cpu? Will the cpu hold the beast that is the 780 back at all?

Thanks!
