This is my first time posting on Tom's so i'll do my best. I recently just got a open box evga gtx 960 with 4gb of vram, and attempted to overclock it. The gtx 960 out of the box is supposed to have a base clock of 1279 MHz and a boost of 1342. And most people i've seen around the internet get this thing at up to 1390 or 1430 or something. But when I overclocked mine using afterburner it came stock at 1430 and I was able to overclock it almost to 1500 MHz and the memory too up to 3800~ ish. Without bumping up the voltage. I used valley benchmark and ran through all the scenes for quite a while, and no crash. This isn't really a bad thing I guess but how did this happen? I know its an open box maybe someone tampered with it, at MicroCenter they said it was just on display but idk. And also just to be safe I bumped the voltage up by 20 and have yet to get a crash in valley or graphics intensive games after long periods of times. So what I want to know is, how am I able to boost the core clock so high on this thing?
