Today, i finished my pc build and installed my new gtx 960,
I powered it on for the first time and the fans started spinning, but there was no video.
I plugged the HDMI to the onboard graphics and it worked perfectly.
I checked the hardware monitor in the bios and everything was perfectly working and detected except for the GPU.
It displayed "slot empty"
I then turned off the computer and psu and changed its slot (i have 3)
Still, the same problem.
I'm really worried if the GPU is faulty since i will have to send it back to the US (Amazon) from KSA.

My specs:
Intel Pentium G3258
EVGA GTX 960 SSC
MSI Z97-G45
8 GB DDR3 RAM
CORSAIR C430M
CORSAIR SPEC-01

Solution

use the 6+2 as an 8pin, don't use an adapter i but that was your problem EDIT: lemme make that more clear, get the 6+2 pin and put then together so it looks...
you have the exact hame PC as me, well let's try this, was the power connectors in all they way on the GPU? because if you plug in a GPU AND you video cable the MOBO SHOULD disable the intel HD and run off of the GPU, is the GPU getting power? do the fans spin on startup?

The fans do, until when i tried a few minutes ago, it would spin for like a split second and stop, then after about 5 secs, spin 1/2 sec then stop and it continues like that

Hmm, maybe its a bad PSU, does the PC keep running when the 960 seems to lose power? does the SSC have a power light on the PCB like the STRIX does?

The PCB doesn't have a light on and the rest of the pc runs perfectly (i dont think the 960 ssc lights up anyway) and yes it is connected to the first pcie slot

And do you use the power adapter included with the gpu
The psu has a 6 pin + 2 pin, so do you use the 2 extra pins on the psu cable too?

Solution

Thx alot, it worked!
I connected the psu cable directly to the gpu and it runs perfectly,

Again thx alot!

Glad to help! Happy Gaming!
