EVGA GTX 970 ACX ( problem ? )

Hi there, i already have a Asus GTX 780 DC2OC and i can sell it for almost the same price with a new Evga GTX 970 ACX ( Not the 2.0 version, the simple one )
Also i will sell mine for 330€ and this one cost 349€. The Superclocked ACX cost 359€ but the only difference is the clock ? Because i can overclock the ACX too...
Is it worth ? Because i found in some posts thermal problems.

Does it mean all the ACX model will have the same problem ? And if i buy an aftermarket thermal paste i can fix it alone ?

I want this one because need les power and i got a Corsair AX760. I cant SLI my GTX 780 but i can SLI 970 with this one. If i am in stock clocks ofc.

It's not the problem with the paste,the pipes are placed incorrectly.
I honestly don't know if that's the problem with the ACX 2.0,but I wouldn't risk it.
EVGA 970 has kinda lost my trust.
I would get either an ASUS STRIX or Gigabyte G1 Gaming.Those are the absolute best 970s out. 😉

I would suggest that thermal paste would not solve that problem, the cooler needs to be moved by half an inch to left.

All ACX 1.0 models have the same issue, that of flawed design on 900 series cards and therefore misangled heatpipes, only 2 of the total 3 touch the chips. Be it base model or SC, do not buy it. ACX 2.0 is much better, MSI 4G or GB G1 are the best 970s in the market. And no, af thermal paste won't fix the issue.

Hmm, the problem is that it doesnt worth to take any other model of GTX 970 because will cost me around +50€. The whole point is to make a good trade with almost the same money because i got mine GTX 780 2 months.

Keep the current card, it'd be better to have 5 less frames than a low quality cooling card.

From reading the thread, I do not see a point in going from your GTX 780 to the GTX 970, especially going to the ACX 1.0 model. Meters has listed the reasons I would have said above.

Thermal paste isn't going to fix 1/3 of the GPU missed by the heatpipes unfortunately. The third heatpipe is not even being utilised.

That is a great card. If you were going to sell the GTX 780, that would be a good card to invest in. You can't compare new cards to used, so the GTX 970 in that aspect could be a better choice to get.

It is a better choice because EVGA ACX model is not even a choice anymore.
Palit 970 cost 420€ here but i can take it for 360 so...

I am just disappointing with EVGA because i had a GTX 680 reference model before and it was great.

I wouldnt bother selling a 780 for a 970 if its only 2 months old, your selling a card for much less than what you bought it for only 2 months ago

Palit has done some nice job on 900 series, they were never bad actually, just under-evaluated. The deal seems good to me, as unknownofprob explained. It can't be better to lower your TDP and increase your performance with 1GB extra VRAM for 30 bucks

Nvidia has pledged FULL support for GTX 700 series cards, AMD have pledged FULL support for GCN Architecture cards, for DX12, but yes the newer features (AA and stuff) of 900 series are unique to them and can be considered a plus point

And what about SLI ? I see that 970 used max 150w so i guess a Corsair AX760 platinum is good enough to handdle 2 of those little monsters xD
