EVGA gtx 970 acx2.0 SC with lower then acceptable performance

So I blew 340 this Christmas on this gtx 970 because my old r9 270 isn't cutting for new titles. While gaming I'm getting 100 percent usage at 1300 MHz or so which seems normal. However my fps in games is not anywhere near benchmarks from linustechtips or jayztwocents ect. I'm getting less then 60 with dips on bf4 ultra 1080p while they are getting 80 averages. FC4 is under 60 with dips at ultra/high settings. My pass mark score is 2000 lower than the score they have on there website. What the fuck nvidia. Is it a new driver or is my FX6300 @ 3.8 ghz really bottlenecking the shit out of me.

You need to overclock those FX chips to at least 4.5 to get the stink out of them.

what about my gpu only benchmark that was subpar. any benchmarks you can recommend to see if my gpu is at fault

First thing I would do is make sure the card is running at X16 speed and not X4 or8.
Use CPU-Z and look at the video card their should show a little blue ? when you click it it will do a short test made sure where it says PCI-E 2.0 its@ X 16.
