I have a Dell Precision T3600 work computer that I now need to upgrade the video card in in order to drive a UHD monitor (3 total). I work from home so I'm thinking I'll put a GTX 970 in there so I can game on it as well. I was looking at the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SC GAMING ACX 2.0 (http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-2974-KR) but I have a question about the power requirements / connections. I have the 650 watt Dell PSU. On the PSU is an 8 pin connector labeled "Power VGA 2" and currently plugged into it is an 8 pin connector that "splits" into two unused 6 pin connectors. (It came w/ that, not aftermarket spliiter). The EVGA GPU requires two 6 pin connectors.

So my question is can I just plug in those two 6 pin connectors directly and be good to go?

Thanks for the input! I really don't know much about building computers or swapping components.

Believe it's combined but I could be wrong. Your total psu is 36 amps so should be fine. Someone else should chime in a clarify the psu question but I think you're good to go

Thank you for your quick reply. From what I've seen online it looks like the GPU requires GeForce GTX 970 - 28A minimum. On my PSU it shows that each channel is 18.0A max. (Photo of my PSU specs http://i.imgur.com/OyLuZgM.jpg). Does this mean I'm screwed, or does each connection provide 18A so combined it would provide 36A which would be enough? Sorry this is all new to me.

Thanks again!
