Hello people.

I recently bought a secondhand EVGA Gtx 970 SSC 4Gb that was suspiciously cheap (around 70$) and also which had the fans changed (it has Asus fans).

my problem is that when i’m playing games, the temperature reaches 80c, which is the maximum temp i set in msi afterburner. If i close the game, the temperature almost INSTANTLY drops back to 35-40c.

Could it be a defective temperature sensor? Or maybe the entire card defective?
Ps. I changed the thermal paste myself with Arctic silver mx-2 and i have plenty of air flow in the case

Solution
80c isn't dangerous and honestly, GTX970s are known to be pretty power-hungry and sometimes hot.

The fan modification would likely be the reason for the temps being a little high.
