EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked reaching 60-63 degrees on idle

I'm a little bit concerned. I picked up the above mentioned card yesterday and installed it. First thing I noticed was that upon start up for about 5-10 minutes it would stay below 50 degrees which I guessed was normal. But after that it reached 63 degrees and the fans started spinning up to 300rpms. It stays at 60-63 consistently and doesn't really rise above that. Now when gaming I noticed it reaches 70-75 degrees and the fans spin up to 1400rpms. It's not very loud (minus some minimal coil whine), but I'm concerned that something maybe up with my card. With BF4, Shadow of Mordor and Advanced Warfare it stays at 70-75 degrees and 1400rpms consistently. Watch Dogs is the only game that made it top out at about 80, but I'm not sure if that game is really the best for benchmarking anything since its still a mess.

Airflow really isn't THAT great in my case, but I feel like 63 is still a bit high, especially when I'm not doing anything intensive. I have a Hyper 212 EVO right above it, but I might switch that out for liquid cooling soon.

Also, I have a dual monitor set up (1x 24 inch 1080p 60hz and 1x 720p 60hz) connected through HDMI and DVI respectively.

So what's the verdict? Should I return the card or contact EVGA? Is this normal?

This is most likely related to the fan curve setup on the card.
Try to get a software like MSI Afterburner to setup a custom fan speed curve. This will help with lowering your idle temps, and even the load ones, if you set a more agressive curve.

Thats weird my gpu sits at 35c idle 60c is way too hot i would send it back thats not right. Have you taken the cooler off for any reason?

Thats just stock. At stock your gpu got not be anywhere near 60c at idle something is wrong with it.

Install evga precision X version 4.2.1 and see if anything changes. I had the same issue with my GPU evga gtx 970 ftw and it worked for me now my idle is around 35C
