EVGA GTX 980 driver for Linux (Ubuntu)

New system with Ubuntu OS, and I just went online to install drivers for the EVGA GTX 980, but those only exist for Windows OSs.

I am for the most part uneducated about this, but I reckoned that there would be firmware updates for the graphics card... Have I chosen the wrong card for Ubuntu?

Any advice?

Can you tell me if your Ubuntu OS is 32-bit or 64-bit?

ubuntu has built in support for nvidia drivers, the following link has more info https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia

You can also install the latest nvidia drivers from here https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

So, in other words, I only need to do:

sudo apt-get install nvidia-"Insert correct driver"

??

you first have to add the ppa, so you type
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
then sudo apt-get install nvidia-"driver version number"
