So I made a thread two days ago about how my system kept stuttering and distorting/just not working properly after putting together my new build. I ended up taking it to a local computer repair joint and they told me that the GPU was getting super hot even when not being stressed and that the fans were not spinning properly. I've got amazon sending me a replacement as I type this. Does that seem like a defective card to anyone? I haven't installed precisionX yet to monitor the temps (I'm coming from AMD where all that is located in catalyst) so I never noticed. When plugging into the mobo everything works fine.

System Specs:
i7 6700k
Cooler Master nepton 240m
Asus z170 PRO GAMING
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16gb ddr4 2400
GTX 980 ti SC ACX 2.0
EVGA NEX 750G Gold Fully Modular PSU
Corsair 500R
Samsung 850 EVO 1tb SSD
Windows 10

OP, The best thing to do is download and install Precision X so you can monitor temps. If by chance the GPU is faulty and its reaching thermal temps, try a custom fan curve. Its pretty easy to set up.

If by chance the card is overheating and you are verifying this with precision x (temps hovering around 90c) then and only then is it time to consider an RMA. Lucky for you, EVGA is the best and they will honor their warranty.

If you haven't even downloaded Precision X, monitored temps the right way, and tried the custom fan curve?! There is no further discussion.
Lol your local computer repair shop sounds a little uninformed about the latest gpu's. The fans on the 980 ti wont even turn on until it reaches 60c for silence sake. I doubt their was anything wrong with the gpu. Your going to have to be a bit more descriptive "my system kept stuttering and distorting/just not working properly" in what? Games? at the desktop? any more info you can give would be helpful.

Well anytime I would load up most programs the entire system would lag and stutter to the point of becoming unusable. Just opening chrome or edge would cause this to happen. Watching videos would be broken, stuttering, and the audio completely distorted. Games would not perform well at all, I would encounter the same issues described above.

It isn't just Chrome like I said in my other post. Edge browser, games, videos, etc.

I read through those posts just fine. No need to be an ass about it. My shadowplay is not on and all my drivers are up to date.

you do know the latest driver has another 10 issue right ?? this did sum it up for me though ''I ended up taking it to a local computer repair joint ''

so did they install the card in another computer to check it ?? or did they just blow you some smoke ?? I don't see that part ??

did you test the card in another computer to see if it was the card or not ??

then this '' I haven't installed precisionX yet to monitor the temps ''

so how did you determine these temps ?? what does gpu-z show ?? don't these card fans don't spin up until the card gets to 65c anyway ??

What is the matter with you? I have already said in two separate posts that when plugged into my integrated graphics that everything works properly. I never installed precisionX because I honestly didn't know that it wasn't with all the other drivers. Like I said I'm used to AMD where all of that is located in Catalyst. They told me when taking the card out they said it was hotter than it should have been from just browsing around the internet. They said it was hot enough to where you couldn't touch it.

I can see english is not your first language, I apologize if that is causing some misinterpretation between us.

BTW, this is a killer build most people drool over. Once you get it all straightened out. You will have one killer awesome gaming computer that will make many people jealous. Enjoy the shit out of bro!

I'm not technically RMA'ing it. I bought it through Amazon and they're sending me a replacement since it isn't past the 30 day mark. I plan on running precisionX and taking a look at it when I get the chance.

one thing as well maybe the psu ?? when the card puts its extra load on it ?? why I said about the shop they should of put the card in something with like 7 and known working psu and all in a process of elimination ..

I guess when you new replacement card comes in and you get the same issue you will know that's not it ?? with the onboard working you can think its not memory or hard drive

but if the new card does the same I would look at the psu and then the boards slot

not to say its so but looking at the firsat 2 reviews is why I ditched asus they seem to need a lot of bios updates compared to other brands boards of the same ?? that's how my ''last'' asus's was and never seemed to be stable or worked right . all ways something ..

don't look like many happy campers

its getting to where I hope these builds last me a long time cause I don't want to invest in this new stuff [lots of lemons out there [any brand ]

any way best of luck and hope you find a resolve
