I cant get the graphics card to work on another pc. It works in my old pc just fine - I have confirmed this by putting it back in the old pc to check that its still functional.

On the pc that I am trying to install it, under device manager/displayadapters, only the Intel HD Graphics shows, no Nvidia.

I have updated the latest BIOS for the motherboard from Intel. I have downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia, but the wizard does not install them, instead the wizard says that there is no compatible hardware found (ie it also cant see the card)

I have played around within the BIOS menu. I do not see a PCIe option in the BIOS for Graphics adapters or any mention of Nvidia. The only setting is primary video card, Intel HD graphics, and then I think there is a PEG and something option that are both set to auto. The next thing I will try is to disable the HD Graphics in the BIOS and reboot, maybe then Windows will see the card.

Its an Intel DH77EB motherboard (with i5 quad core processor) with one PCI-e 16 gen 2. Pity is doesnt have more slots, because I could have moved the card to a different slot. I have wondered if the slot it self is faulty... no way to check really, I suppose.

The graphics card is made by EVGA, Nvidia GeFroce GT 740 (PCIe 16 gen2 and gen 3 compatible).

Windows 7 SP 1 and all KB updates up to date.

Any ideas?

Ok, so I found the problem. The PCIe slot was damaged!! After exhausting all BIOS options, I decided to examine the slot under a good light. Someone had been less than careful with this motherboard before I bought it. Quite a lot of the pins were either bent or squashed on the side closest to where the clip on the motherboard holds it in place. In other words, I bought a dud, and will now have to look for a replacement motherboard.
