I just purchased EVGA Nvidia Gt240, 1GB DDR3 ..... its performance is very good but i am being irritated by a little problem that is its fan speed ...... The fan runs at full speed and it is very noisy ...... like a jet taking off ...... please help me guys ...... Latest drivers are in place ..... AFTERBURNER and EVGA Precision show the fan to be at 4% ....... !! HELP

I had a GT 220 that did the same thing. After digging around I flashed the video card's bios and it worked out well. But this will void your warranty and is potentially risky. If your not happy and you have the time, exchange it. Next time it might be best to read consumer reviews before pulling the trigger and picking one up.

Arslan, I had a similar "jet engine noise" coming from the same card.. the fans wouldn't be loud up until I opened a game (wow, dead space 3, etc) then it'll start screaming.. I took the card out opened up the face casing and seen that the fan was filthy with dust.. and inside the fan's casing was a thick, foam-like texture of dust... I cleaned out the case and the fan blades best I could.. I put it back in and when I logged in all my fans were running at seemingly 35-45% but I can play ANY game with no super loud jet noise... I have everything updated to most recent.. but still no matter what i'm doing, even NOTHING, the fans still run at 35-50%. The fans turn off when I put the CPU to sleep and go to work..I come back resume.. and SOMETIMES the fans run at normal speed for a short time..but when I load anything they rev up to about 40-50%. But at least I don't get the jet-noise anymore! I wish I can find more help online but can't find much help; waaaaay to many variables and different problems and seems to not have much info about the Evga Geforce 240 gt... hope I can figure something out.. and good luck to you!
