Hi, i'm Oliver, and relatively new to Pc gaming. Recently i ran into a problem where my pc would just crash randomly and then take a while for my monitor to turn back on with the pc.

I tried several things with no joy of a fix. I eventually reinstalled windows 10 and still the crashing persisted. The crashing would occur randonly and often in spurts of crashes. The computer wouldnt BSOD. But just essentially freeze.

After checking hardware, i made sure everything i had was up to date.
I downloaded a recent BIOS update for my EVGA z170 stinger. I clicked the bat file and command prompt opened.. i then read on and clicked Y to proceed with the update.

My pc then restarted as i assumed it would as part of the update.
On reboot my motherboard post code was coming up as 98.
As i said im not overly techy but i googled it and others had resolved this by unplugging most USBs and inputs and restarting.

This didnt effect anything and still i get a post code of 98. I reseated and cleaned my CPU and tried again.. and again nothing. And now im stuck...

I have honestly no idea what to do next. Ive switched ram out and pretty much everything i can think of. Ive tried the CMOS battery. Any help would be massively.. massively appreciated. The build is about 18 months old.
