So my brother's PC when bumped or even as so slightly nudged will shut down immediately. You have to take the power cable out and find the sweet spot for it to work. Any help
Replaced the PSU with a TX750M and its all good nowTry to run the Memtest for as long as you can then, and see if any errors come up. Don't know if 20 minutes will allow for 3 passes, probably at least 1 should be done, at least from my experience.
He has had it 4 months. I think the contacts have to be exactly perfect. The cable goes in but you have to find the right spot for it not to power on for a second and power offSo the power cable where you plug it into the PSU is loose?
Could be a worn cable or socket.
No like even as so touching the desk or laying an arm down to rest will knock it offThen, don't bump it.
Seriously though, psu cables are standard and cheap.
You could buy a new one.
As a temporary fix, try to spread the blades of the connector apart a bit so that they fit more snugly.
CPU - Ryzen 5 1600Full system specs, could be a memory issue or a PSU issue most of the time. You can diagnose a memory issue with a memtest86 test, but only way to test if its the PSU is by replacing it.
And GPU?CPU - Ryzen 5 1600
RAM - 16gb Patriot Viper Extreme 3200mhz
Motherboard - MSI B450-A-Pro-Max
Storage - 2tb HDD, 240gb Western Digital M.2
PSU - EVGA 700wBR
While there is plenty of power, a bad PSU could still cause issues like this, no matter its wattage, and the EVGA BR is not exactly a top of the line series, so it could indeed be the source of problem here.might also check to see how bad the dust is on the inside.
plenty of power
It happens even while idiling and event viewer doesn't show much except a Office 365 Error code 3221225506While there is plenty of power, a bad PSU could still cause issues like this, no matter its wattage, and the EVGA BR is not exactly a top of the line series, so it could indeed be the source of problem here.
So if it crashes while running Memtest 64, it is the psu or no, I didn't fully understand your wordingRun memtest64 then, if the crash happens even without load, the PSU can be pretty much ruled out.
Memtest64 checks your RAM for errors, it will detect the errors and report them to you, there shouldn't be any crashes when running Memtest64. I have a tendency to chain sentences together, sorry if that was confusing :')So if it crashes while running Memtest 64, it is the psu or no, I didn't fully understand your wording
It did crash, but it can easily just be turned on again by pressing the power buttonMemtest64 checks your RAM for errors, it will detect the errors and report them to you, there shouldn't be any crashes when running Memtest64. Memtest64 just goes through your RAM and makes sure it's not faulty. If it encounters a faulty section, it tries to repair it, I think, otherwise it shows up as an error. A normal functioning RAM should have 0 errors. The 3 passes are just for redundancy as far as I know. It'll take some time for 3 passes to complete, hopefully the PC doesn't crash midway through it, otherwise you'll have to start over.
