Hello guys and girls,

Recently, I have started noticing that my PSU fan runs at full speed all the time, can you please tell me how to control it? I have the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply.
It used to run super smoothly and quietly but now I can hear it distinctively.
for info, here is my build:

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Your PSU product page: http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=120-G2-1000-XR
Your PSU specs sheet: http://www.evga.com/products/Specs/PSU.aspx?pn=66c8cae4-9a09-4476-8e75-f7b660159eb9

Searched left and right about the silent mode feature and at least i wasn't able to find any indication that your PSU fan runs only when needed.
Even the JonnyGuru review doesn't say the fan runs only when load gets higher.

You can RMA your PSU but if you get the same fan noise again, next time, go with Seasonic.
EVGA uses double ball bearing in it's fan and out of 3 most common fan bearings (sleeve bearing and fluid dynamic bearing being the other two), the ball bearing is the noisiest.
Sadly, EVGA doesn't offer any way for you to control your PSU fan since EVGA has designed the fan to run constantly.

For quieter PSU, look towards Seasonic.

Many Seasonic PSUs are using the fluid dynamic bearing fan (which is the quietest of the three) with alongside the silent mode where the PSU fan doesn't even rotate until 50% load on PSU has been reached.

I recommend getting the PRIME 850.

Thanks for your Answer AEACUS, but I'm quite sure that when I bought it, it wasn't making any sound and that the fan spin only when needed.
So I'm suspecting that a component in there is making the whole think run too hot and the fan spins all the time.

Have you heard of anything like that?

EVGA allowed me to RMA it, do you think it's necessary.

Yeah, I think I will RMA as long as I have an option to do that.
I will all let you know what it is about as soon as I get the new part.

Thanks Aeacus for your inputs.
