Question EVGA SuperNova 850 G3 vs. ThermalTake Toughpower 850W GOLD vs. Seasonic FOCUS Plus Gold 850

Watever Wattage you have 2 choices in the EVGA G3 which is great and the Seasonic Focus Plus Gold which is also great both are top rated PSU's with 10 year warranties and well above the Thermaltake unit.

Both the EVGA G3 and the Seasonic are highly rated and reviewed at the top and I currently us the EVGA G3 750w and can only sing it's praises...

both are still kind of worrisome for me (focus fx and fm, others are yet to be reviewed)

to list some things why

We didn't get any OCP results because our unit died during the OPP test, meaning either that this particular sample had a problem or OPP is set very high.

OTP is set very high in our opinion, since we had to apply a huge thermal load on the secondary side to trigger it. The bulk cap's external casing nearly melted during our OTP evaluation.

I usually take a lot of testing into account and really world use and rely also on JonnyGuru who has reviewed both the EVGA G3 series and the Seasonic Focus Plus gold as outstanding PSU's and in fact the bulk of the reviews for both the G3 and the Seasonic Focus Plus Gold are always right at the top....I have no idea which Chinese site you are referencing but here you go on links..

In fact on Toms forum the G3 and the Seasonic Focus Plus are pretty much always recommended along with certain Corsair units... SuperFlowers own brand are also very highly rated.

JonnyGurus review of both EVGA 9.8 and Seasonic 9.6 out of 10!:

Hopefully others will jump in with there thoughts but personally I dont think you can go wrong with either and I have been using EVGA now for years and welcome there first rate support and 10 year warranty!

it's good that you spread your info, but the problem is that JG doesn't even do much protection testing, and aris only went up to 110%, while PCeva here did 120%

and since evga has since shown nothing different with g3, and seasonic has released it's successor in the gx, gm and px, i stopped recommending them

do i think you should throw them in a bin if you have them already? no, keep it and buy a new one whenever the time comes

do i think you should still buy them at this point? no, there's in my opinion just better around

Well I have given my views and no matter what JonnyGuru is highly rated and respected in the PSU world and I would take his thoughts on PSU's very seriously...I'll leave it at that and let the OP make his own decision as it is his money on the line and certainly not mine...

jon hasn't reviewed units for years now, and even his successor recently stopped as well

then again, his testing doesn't include the protection testing Aris does these days, which is honestly to an incredible level, but then again, many have their own way

i'll just follow you with the choice of waiting here
