Question Evga Supernova 850T2

I was wondering if it’s still worth going with the EVGA Supernova 850 T2 over a newer PSU. I liked that it gets a high rating for low noise. Am I better though going with something like the Seasonic Vertex series just because they are newer. I don’t need the newer gpu connection on some of the psu as I have a RX 7900xt and I’m not one to upgrade every few years. I just want something reliable and quiet. I tried a Corsair RM 850x but it’s making high pitch squealing noises and has shut down a couple times on me.

I wouldn't. It's an old platform now and doesn't support some of the newer standards, so going forward you'd already be buying yourself into an obsolete component. Not that it isn't a good quality PSU, it is, and if you're in a region where getting a hold of quality power supplies is difficult, it's certainly an option, but I'd look at other options first.

Honestly if your RM 850x is making noises, I'd return it for a refund or exchange, or contact Corsair about a replacement unit under warranty because that's a very good power supply as well. Or, I'd look at something that's a newer platform, whether a unit with the newer ATX 3.0 specification compliance and PCIe 5.0 compliance, or at least simply a newer platform.

What country are you in and what is your budget for a PSU, if you are not inclined to try and move forward with another RM 850x unit under warranty exchange?

Thanks. I wasn't to worried about PCIe 5.0, my intention would just be to build another computer in 5-7 years and hand one over to the kids or donate at that point. I would prefer to return the corsair at this point since I just got it a couple weeks ago.
I am in canada, I don't mind going up to the $300 mark before taxes. Using a Fractal Torrent Compact case so 180mm on the EVGA PSU length was about as long as I want to go.
My other though had been either a Seasonic Vertex GX 850 or 1000 although I saw a few reports of coil whine but I guess that can be with almost anything. Super Flower Leadex Titanium was another one I was watching on newegg. I mostly just want quiet and efficient of gold or higher.

Any of these would IMO be good options.
