At the moment I am using a GTS 250 (EVGA) VideoCard and cannot play my games (such as DOOM or Alien: Isolation). Upgrading to a newer video card should resolve the dilemma, right?
I am running a 3.2GHz CPU with 8GB of RAM (@2000MHz) with W7x64Ultimate O.S.
(the computer itself is almost ten years old) What would a good card for relatively cheap be to replace my current one?
*Would any card that supports Dx12 be a safe assumption? (the type that cost ~$60.00~)

*EDIT* I should probably have mentioned that my concern is because the motherboard is from 2008 and any newer video cards are ... newer. I don't imagine there would pose any sort of compatibility issues. But what do I know?

Compatiblity depends on what verison of PCIE your motherboard supports. While they should be backward compatible the power issue does come into play. I suggest a 750ti with a 6 pin power plug. The reason is the 6 pin can power the vidoe card if the PCIE slot doesn't.

*thx4 TimelyReply, btw*
So, something such as the ASUS GTX 750 Ti 2GB card which you recommend would definitely be an upgrade; but because it's "interface" is PCIe3.0 whereas my Rampage Extreme (x48) offers PCIe2.0, having the 6pinPower should provide for the compatibility between the two?
Also, whatabout if I were to just "double-up" with the GTS 250 and run SLI? It still wouldn't remedy the needing of Dx12 though, would it...
?

The power from pcie has nothing to do with changing compatibility. You'd be fine with using any gpu in a pcie 2.0 slot but the performance of the cpu, your psu, case, and budget would limit what you would get. The 1050 is around the same price for quite a bit more performance.

Given the date I was expecting a PCIE 1.1 or older. Having a PCIE 2.0 I would suggest the 1050.
