Hello. i want to buy an evga gtx 1080. I see in their site that right now the gtx 1080 sc gaming is supporting the step up program, which means that after buying the card i can change it within 90 days with another more upgraded model or with another gpu maybe a 1080ti. But here is my question: if i buy the card now and in one month the cards that support the step up program change will i be able to change my card then?
thank you!

Solution

Yes, When I got my 770, and within a month the 900 series came out I was able to upgrade to the 970 with no issue. As long as you are within the 90 days and the card you want is one you can select, its yours ( plus paying the difference and the shipping fees of course)

Go to the evga web site and carefully read the details of the step up program.
First of all, you need to buy from an authorized seller.
You need to register the card within 30 days.
You need to upload your purchase invoice so Evga can know how much to allow when you step up.
Then, you need to check which cards are eligible for the program and what cards you can step up to.

All of this may be complicated by the current shortage of high end cards.

You can get more authoritative answers to these questions from the evga support forums.
