evo 840 on Mac

Just got a 250GB Evo 840 for my Early 2008 Mac Pro but can't get the system to initialise the drive (Couldn't Open device). It recognises the SSD in the device list but Disk Utility won't touch it.

Samsung provide utilities to perform this initialisation but only for a PC! Any ideas how I can get the device started?

First you have to go to apples disk utility and erase the drive.
The format it is usually hsf+ journalled or mac os extended (journalled)
and then you can initialize/partition it for use.
At least that is if I'm remembering things right, it been a while since I've done mac stuff.
