I'd much rather have a notebook with clarksfield inside, It'll run hot but damnit it will get the job done! I'm not so excited about auburndale with only 2 cores and on package intel graphics to make it more expensive than it should be. I might just wait till sandy bridge comes along before buying a new notebook. These look nice, but all I care about is what's under the hood. My 1 year old gateway with a 65nm c2d and 3 series chipset isn't too much slower than centrino 2 notebooks like this.

[citation][nom]demonhorde665[/nom]"Alienware co-founder Kevin Wasielewski left the company after Dell's Borg-like acquisition in 2006." We are the Dell, your biological and technological distictivness will be added to our own, resistance is futile, we are the dell LOL great laugh out of a tragedy , I actulay own an old alienware that was bought a bit before dell bought the company( got it when they first introduced the alien head cases). first thing i noticed was customer suport went bye bye pretty much, second thing was the lower costing alienwares went bye bye (prior to dell buying em out AW did have some 1200 dollar and lower priced systems) and now finnally it seems they are getting rid of the last thing that was old alien ware , those awsome alien head looking cases 9 adn teh prior cases taht alien ware used before) seem dell has come in and completely destroyed what made alienware a "worth" the money option (that being the awsome customer suport they used to have ,as well as the strikingly distinct and differnt look) whats more alien ware msotly features intel processors now and amd's only look liek a foot note on tgheir wep site , old alien ware offered equal number of amd options as intel , well nto any more *sighs*[/citation]

Actually this seems like a great stategy now that I think of it. You create a company that's passion is building gaming rigs for the mainstreme and extreme players. You build a reputation for good QOS and great systems. Then you sell out to one of the largest Walmart Style (the something for everyone part) OEM manufacturers. Then a few years later start up another company and start the process all over again... Sounds like a good idea to me.

Unfortunately these guys tend to be more expensive than their competition, so they may want to rethink their strategy. Many other boutique builders offer what they offer (maybe not exactly) but no none is going to pay 20-30% more for the privilege.

their website is http://www.originpc.com/ and there worst than apple with ripping people off,

if you build a system for about $1700 on their site, you only get about 700-$750 worth of gaming PC if you were to head to a site like newegg and build the system your self. just like alienware, and all of those other companies, you get ripped off by a lot (generally by around $1000 for a gaming PC).

I just configured an Origin pc vs Newegg. Pretty much same parts
Newegg $6070
OriginPC $7433

Differences: Lifetime Support on Origin even if you upgrade change parts etc (pretty wild), Pre Built, Pre Overclocked to 4.4ghz and watercooling on Video Cards (Dual Loop) for $1400 or so more does not seem like rape to me
