I recently got a BenQ 2420G monitor. There is a bit of backlight bleeding along the bottom edge that is noticeable during normal use, but during a blackscreen test, taking a picture shows substantially more. Did I get a dud?
That does look pretty bad. I'd contact BenQ support and they'll probably direct you to do an RMA
There are a couple of problems I'll run into if I return this monitor, though. I bought this off of amazon.ca, and they currently do not have anymore in stock, so I can only get a refund. I do still want this monitor as it is terrific for gaming.
If I RMA it through BenQ, they'll likely charge me shipping, which is already unacceptable. A customer should NEVER have to pay shipping to return/exchange a defective product. Secondly, manufacturers tend to send refurbed products to people who RMA instead of a brand new one. This might be acceptable for certain computer components like motherboards, but it is absolutely unacceptable for a monitor. I could very well get a refurb that has over a thousand hours of use, which will considerably shorten the remaining lifespan of the display.
If amazon had stock, I'd exchange it in a heartbeat. They don't charge return shipping and they replace with new merchandise.
