Question Excuse me, My corsair Ml 140 fans are very noisy

I recently installed some new corsair Ml 140 fans into my pc because I heard they would be quieter than my old ones being advertised as max 34db. However since installing them I've found they are much louder and I don't know how to resolve this. Could this be due to me not having a 4 pin fan header on my motherboard and therefore using one 3 pin and a splitter to power both fans? Sorry this is long wasn't sure how to describe it I'm not great with computers.
