Execute printcommands immediately

Hi,

In the early days you had matrix printers. When you send (for example) a
line feed to the printer it forwarded the paper one line immediately.

Is this possible on deskjet printers as well? I am testing on a HP 1120C
deskjet printer, but it starts only printing the complete page after sending
a formfeed.

I appreciate any assistance.

DeskJets and LaserJets are page-oriented printers using PCL and/or PostScript.
As far as I know, there is no way to print one line at a time. Both printer
control languages operate on the principle that the printer's internal page
buffer is filled up by executing printer commands. When the software is
satisified that it has built the complete page image, it emits the form feed
control character (or PostScript equivalent) to tell the printer to print the
entire page... Ben Myers
