Existing RAID 1 moved to a new comp - possible?

im planning a motherboard upgrade and currently have two 1tb drives in raid 1. after my mobo is installed, is it as simple as plugging the hdds into the new mobo and setting the mobo bios up for raid 1? or does raid need to be started as clean drive?

Ideally you should set it up on the new controller, however I've successfully moved raid arrays from one motherboard to a different brand.
