Expand c drive

The M$ article referenced by Christopher4 points out two of the problems you will face, AND there is a third maybe.

1. Windows and the Diskpart utility will NOT try to manipulate the C: drive that you boot from. This is their cautious way to protect you from losing everything if something goes wrong during the operation.

2. Similarly, these tools will not allow you to manipulate any HDD that contains the pagefile. So to work on a NON-boot drive that has the pagefile on it, you need to move that pagefile or stop using the pagefile system at all (temporarily). When you're done you can restore the pagefile system.

3. Your post asks, "how do u move the partitions in betwwen ". I'm not clear what you want, but it sounds like you want to move Partitions around on the HDD. You cannot really do that. Even Expanding a Partition ONLY works if the empty space ("Unallocated Space") you plan to use is RIGHT AFTER the Partition you are trying to expand. It must be contiguous space.

The most powerful and flexible tools for what you seem to want are third-party software you pay for, although you may find some freeware with similar features. One that is know to do a lot is Partition Magic. It can actually move Partitions around and re-size them for you, without the restrictions of the Windows tools. BUT there is the risk of losing your data when you start doing such deep manipulations, so your ALWAYS are advised to BACK UP your entire HDD - all its Partitions - before starting on such a job.
