Experiencing >60C temperature spikes when playing Watch_Dogs

My PC rarely spiked above 50C, and even then the highest I've seen is 56C. Also, all of the cores of my i5-2500k typically idle just below 40C. However, I played Watch_Dogs today for barely 30 minutes, and I happened to notice my CPU spike at 67C. Afraid of overheating, I shut it down immediately, and now I'm afraid to play the game until either it gets better optimized or I find a mechanical solution. Has anyone else experienced such abnormal spikes? Should I invest in an aftermarket CPU cooler? If so, what variety?

Build:
Intel Core i5-2500k 3.4GHz
BIOSTAR TZ77XE3 motherboard
Corsair XMS 8GB PC10666 DDR3 1333MHz
EVGA NVidia GeForce GTX 760 SC 4GB
Corsair CX750 Builder Series 750W PSU

You could go for an aftermarket cooler, but...

You could go for an aftermarket cooler, but those temperatures are perfectly fine. They are nothing to worry about. If it was around 85, then I would worry.

unksol is correct; different mobos have different settings for that (I currently have mine set to shut down at 90C). But thank you guys for clearing that up and alleviating my concerns!
