Expert advice needed-Monitor vs TV ???

Hi, newbie here. I am shopping for a new desktop pc monitor in the 32" range. The new TV's all have a PC input, but there must be a reason a "real" monitor cost two or three times as much.

I will be using it just as a monitor, what is the difference?
